How to get help:

Step 1: Contact Us

1. You can email us directly at ask@probono.org.hk or leave a message on WhatsApp or We Chat via +852 9229 7517 or our website www.probonohk.org.

2. Tell us your legal issue(s) or the situation you are facing.

3. Provide your name and contact details.

We welcome inquiries and requests from both private individuals and local organisations, such as
NGOs and charities. We cannot assist businesses or with commercial inquiries.

Step 2: Screening Call

1. After receiving your inquiry and case details, we will schedule a time to have a screening call.

2. During the call, we will ask you questions about:
Your financial means: e.g. financial income, occupation, household income, assets, allowance and benefits.
Your case’s merits: nature of your legal issue and the relief sought.

This is so we can assess your eligibility for our assistance and determine whether it is something we can help with. As a charity, our resources are limited, and we do not guarantee we will be able to assist you.

Step 3: Acceptance or Referral

Upon your eligibility assessment, we will notify you and arrange a session for you to consult one of our lawyers for free legal advice. At this stage, we may also collect further case-related documents from you if necessary.

However, if we cannot assist you directly, we will try to refer you to another appropriate organisation.

Step 4: Meet with the Lawyer

You can speak to our volunteer lawyer about your case on the agreed-upon date and time of your appointment.

As our service relies on volunteer lawyers, the meetings with lawyers are subject to their availability and may be limited to a maximum of one hour only.

Important Information

Our service is to assist and advise you with learning about your legal rights and obligations. It is a limited service and acceptance of an inquiry by us does not include us or our lawyers acting or representing you on an ongoing basis. We are not a law firm and cannot provide ongoing representation or case handling.

This service is unsuitable for urgent criminal matters (such as where you have been taken into custody) or where life or property are at immediate risk. You should engage a private solicitor or contact the Government's Legal Aid Schemes or the Duty Lawyer Scheme.

步驟2:網上或電話進行 資格審查

1.收到您的查詢及資料後,我們會與您預約 網上或電話通話以進行資格審查。

2. 審查中我們會問及:
您的經濟狀況:例如經濟收入、職業、 家庭收入、資產、津貼和福利。
您的案件詳情:包括您的法律問題的 性質及法律援助的需求。

藉此評估您是否符合資格以及我們能否可以提 供協助。 由於我們作為慈善機構的資源有限, 故不能保證為您提供協助。

步驟3:

受理或轉介

假如您通過資格審查,我們將通知您並安排一次 法律諮詢會面,讓您從我們的義務律師獲得免費 法律意見。在此階段,如有需要時我們有可能向 您進一步收集與個案相關之文件。

假如我們未能直接提供協助,我們會嘗試轉介您 的個案到其他相關機構作跟進。

步驟4:與律師會面

您可以於指定的日期和時間向我們的義務律師諮 詢您的個案問題或處境。

我們的免費法律諮詢服務有賴於義務律師的付 出,因此會面的日期和時間取決於他們的日程安 排,而諮詢會面的時間可能僅限於一小時。

我們的服務旨在幫助您了解您的法律權利和義 務並提供法律建議。 這是一項有限度的服務, 我們受理的個案不代表我們或我們的律師將持 續協助您的個案或成為你的代表律師。 我們並 非律師事務所,故無法提供持續的代理或個案 處理服務。
